Can we be truly content ,when it is our natural instinct to desire?

maybe not, but maybe we can be content to know that we have the ability to desire. Not to settle or to stand still, to desire to want is not all bad. but to respect it as the motivation for the future... HEY i even like my answer. I was just going to tell you that this is a great question! Can we be truly content ,when it is our natural instinct to desire?
Epicurus said that the desires of the flesh (eating, drinking, sex) are never really and truly fulfilled. Desires of the mind (seeking truth, beauty, peace, or justice,) may be more fulfilling even if their object is never reached.

Buddha says desire is the road to maya (delusion) and that only by detachment can we escape endless suffering.

Detach to WHAT? Nirvana is some chocolate bar slogan masquerading as an afterlife. So far as I am concerned, Buddha is a used car salesman, and a bad one at that! I am with Epicurus 100%.Can we be truly content ,when it is our natural instinct to desire?
If we want it go for it.

We can be happy, if we start being more positive and start looking at life differently. Of course it is all up to us.
Well we have options and free will. We can learn to control ourselves.
...yes, change your attitude and work on it daily...good luck...
