Well basically im wondering if a dog has to be a certain age for his natural instincts?

Their natural instincts kick in once they hit the world. There first natural instinct is to breathe, second is to drink milk from the mother and so on. So pretty much their natural instinct is always there

All instincts are born in all living things. Humans and animals . Instincts are not learned. I have had puppies that don't even have their eyes open growl at me, just be cause it didn't recognize me .
Your puppy goes through two fear stages. It then goes through teenage years. I would say 2 - 3yrs of age.

Humping starts when they get to be about 2 or older
